[2023 - 2024 Semester 1 Official Meeting: Meeting Day 2]

Updated: Sep 25, 2023

Date: 8 Sep 2023, Friday

Duration: 12:45 - 13:30

Topic: Basic Fundamental Knowledge in Chemistry (pt. 1)

With our new topic now set, our club was now excited about learning the principles to chemistry. However, before we started on any of that, our leader, Maria, gave a short presentation (TMI) about the states of water (suprisingly, water can be both a solid, a liquid, and a gas at the same time!)

After listening to her presentation, our members divided themselves into groups and learned about the basic concepts to chemistry:

  1. atoms and electrons

  2. protons (the atomic number), electrons, and neutrons

  3. the periodic table

  4. isotopes

  5. oxidation and reduction

Our club members studied hard among themselves. As the club progressed, they had to prepare questions to quiz the other groups; the winner would win a prize.

Questions were fired from teams. It turned out to be a relief that most of the questions were answered correctly by all teams. Suprisingly, it ended in a tie. It was decided that the whole competition would be continued next class.
