We went through the 2021-2022 semester 2 science club syllabus.

The members took turns talking about what our first topic of the semester would be.

Yoonseo (RS 10) brought up the topic of electricity. Members all agreed to discuss and experiment on electricity.

1st Offical Meeting

Topic: Electricity (charge, conductors and insulators, current, and voltage)

First, we started with a prayer by Emma.

Yunseo then led the discussion.

We first quickly saw a well-summarized YouTube video regarding the basics of electricity.

It mainly talked about current and voltage.

Then, we went over an article from khan academy and discussed the essential concepts.

Yoonseo drew a circuit to explain conventional current. He explained that electrons flow from the negative terminal to the positive terminal.

We read the article together. Emma and Maria read the article for the rest of the members.

When we were confused about a concept regarding how voltage works, Joshua explained the idea by making a comparison between potential energy and voltage. This helped the rest of the members to understand better.

Eleanor also explained how the formula of voltage works. She also told the members the relationship between potential energy and voltage: "as the change of U increases, the voltage also increases". She explained that it also applies when the change of U, the potential energy, decreases.
